Heathorn Street Homegroup
The Heathorn Street home group has been meeting in one form or another for nearly 4 years now. As we currently consist predominantly of parents and/or school staff we tend to only meet during term time, (although we will often hold a social event during the holidays if enough of us are around.)
We meet at 7.30pm on a Thursday to share a meal and catch up on the week’s news before beginning our study for the evening at around 8ish (with coffee and biscuits). We have covered a broad range of topics over our time together from working our way through a whole book of the Bible (James, the Gospel of John) to using published notes to get to grips with a particular topic (Respectable Sins, Jerry Bridges; If you want to walk on water you’ve got to get out of the boat, John Otberg). We have traditionally also followed the Diocesan lent course in the run up to Easter.
We are currently just about to finish a short DVD based study from Jeff Lucas on the will of God for our lives (Stop Looking for the Will of God, Jeff Lucas) and have a 4 week Advent series planned for the run up to Christmas.
We always close our sessions in prayer; for ourselves for the week ahead, for St Paul’s and the church at large, and for those people and issues we just feel we are called to pray for.
